ABLACH - Aon
GENRE: Grindcore COUNTRY: Scotland FORMAT: CD LABEL: Blastwork YEAR: 2009 RATING: 6/10 REVIEWED BY: PSL PROVIDED BY: Ablach The Scottish band Ablach plays grimy and old school grindcore on Aon. The music is inspired by Repulsion, Doom and Regurgitate, amongst others. The songs sound a lot like something that could have been done in 1989. There's really nothing atypical in what the six Scots come up with, but the band know what they are doing and that is what it comes down to. The six-piece grind a lot, but Ablach do know how to vary things by adding some groove or slowing down. It doesn't hurt either that the band have two vocalists - Mitch and Andy complement each other very well. The fat and meaty production has a Sunlight Studio kind of feel to it. Aon is a good effort and it promise very well for what next to come. |
