Originality is a rare thing in death metal these days, and Aborted doesn't add much new to the genre. But who cares as long as the music is good? And it certainly is on Goremageddon - The Saw and the Carnage Done.
Sure, it's all been heard before, but Aborted is mostly able to add their own touch to the music so that it doesn't tend to be just another copy of this or that band, although it feels like the Belgians have been inspired a bit by Carcass and Fleshcrawl. The similarities with Fleshcrawl are mostly due to the guitar sound.
The songs are diverse and overall brutal, and the Belgian is good at making the music interesting. Jakob Hansen has gotten the band a buzzsaw-like sound and it fits the music well. If you like brutal music then Goremageddon - The Saw and the Carnage Done is definitely not the worst CD to check out.
