The Brazilian four-piece Anarkhon is clearly inspired by Cannibal Corpse and in particular the era around The Bleeding. Many of the riffs sound like they could have been written by the Americans.

The vocals are not that different either from how Chris Barnes sounded back then. The inspiration can clearly be heard on "Prazer em Torturar" among other. Moreover the band rely a lot on chunky bass-lines that is also very similar to those of Cannibal Corpse.

Despite of the music most of all is a copy of the aforementioned it doesn't make Obesidade Mórbida a bad effort. Anarkhon do provide the songs with a bit of personality now and then. The Brazilians also add a solo here and there, and it does create additional diversity.

Above all the music is quite varied, but the constant Cannibal Corpse references do become a bit too much now and then. The whole approach to the music, the riffs, the solos and the somewhat dirty and dry production makes Obesidade Mórbida sound like something from 1994 and I like that.

In spite of the mistakes and inadequacies that Obesidade Mórbida have it's actually an effort that stays interesting for more than just a short while.
