The info leaflet accompanying the CD state that the Poles play extreme Satanic death metal. Usually these statements should be taken with a grain of salt, but it proves to be true this time. Musically Anima Damnata doesn't try to do any new tricks. The whole imagery makes it easy to figure out what to expect, but I don't mind the predicable as long it's done convincingly. The music is typical Satanic death metal with some references to Deicide and Morbid Angel. The songs are varied without becoming overwhelming. Most of the time the trio play very fast, but the unit clearly knows that speed alone isn't enough so they regularly lower the pace. It doesn't hurt either that a lead or two pop up from time to time as well a few gloomy intros. These provide both nerve and mood to the CD.
On Atrocious Disfigurement of the Redeemer's Corpse at the Graveyard of Humanity you get what is expectable. Predictable or not, the result is quite convincing and clearly Anima Damnata have their own ideas as well so the music is not just another rip off although the similarities with the aforementioned bands are noticeable. Fans of Deicide and death metal in general can safely pick Atrocious Disfigurement of the Redeemer's Corpse at the Graveyard of Humanity up.
