On the EP Vanitas death metal band Archaeon come up with music that is both brutal and technical. The Americans demonstrate they are able to make music that is different and creative, but unfortunately Archaeon tends to fall short when it comes to varying the tempo. A lot of the time it feels too alike. I miss something in the songs that would make it a little more vigorous and diverse. The bass gets a lot of space in the songs and that work as a positive feature. It makes the music organic and provides it with character. Archaeon have some good ideas. This combined with a little more work and a beefier sound and the music could become very interesting.
