The Dallas, Texas located trio Baring Teeth play some weird proggy music. The music is technical death metal with lots of avant-garde and dizzying inputs. A lot of it feels arbitrary and improvised, but I doubt it is. However there do actually seem to be a red line in the disarray. Maybe it's just me, but I have difficulties finding the interesting what the threesome is doing.

I miss some catchy riffs or parts to hold on to, but there are none. Instead there are lots of distorted free-style jazz and proggy riffs. None of the songs are all that interesting. Often it gets too spacey and noisy for my liking.

The style of the music is to some degree in the vein of Burnt By The Sun, Converge and early The Dillinger Escape Plan, but I wouldn't say that Baring Teeth sound much like the aforementioned. The trio's style is a little more experimental and avant-garde.

It's obvious that there's a lot going on in the songs, but I miss some unforgettable parts to set the songs apart. Again I'm not a big fan of this type of music, so that's probably why I have difficulties digesting what the threesome is doing.

The dry and spartan sound of Atrophy fits the music. It gives the music a harsh and obdurate feel. No doubt that the songs on Atrophy is forward-thinking and that the band has novelty, but in spite of that it's not really for my liking.
