I admit I've never heard of Bunkdope prior to Sores. It right away gets clear that the unit plays some standardized brutal US death metal. The band state they are inspired by bands such as Deeds Of Flesh, Broken Hope and Immolation. I hear the Immolation references now and then. Particularly in the tracks "Two Hour Jack Shower" and "Rinsebag", but I really don't hear any of the other abovementioned bands. What I hear is a bit of Rottrevore and Banished here and there. Most of the time the band approach things from a slower perspective. There's not a lot of blastbeat or super fast drumming, but they do pop up now and then.
The production is dirty and occasionally quite muddy. It provides the music with a very simplistic and demo-like feel. A better production would have been preferable, but it's nothing that spoil Sores to a degree where it's not enjoyable. Overall I find Sores to be an alright effort. If you like dirty, unsophisticated and somewhat brutal death metal then Bunkdope is worth a closer listen. They sure surprised me positively despite of the impression I got to begin with thanks to the rather primitive artwork and booklet.
