The Brazilian trio Chaos Synopsis play a mixture of death and thrash metal. It's obvious that the band like early Death. There are riffs and parts that could have been written by a young Chuck Schuldiner. Of course it doesn't get less obvious that the trio do a version of "Zombie Ritual".

In addition I spot bits and pieces of Metallica and Destruction in the music. I'm not a big fan of the mixture of death and thrash metal and Chaos Synopsis does not change my view on this. The song-writing could have been worse, but there's little in the music that I find interesting. I miss more catchy and recognizable parts. Those that are, are few and far between. Too often the songs tend to be anonymous and it does make Kvlt ov Dementia boring effort.

The band does try to vary the music, but often it results in fast and straight forward parts mixed with some slower ideas. Of course that isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it mostly is here. "2100 A.D." and "Zombie Ritual" are the songs that to me stood out the most and I think that says a lot about the songs.

Another thing that doesn't exactly profit the music is the flat and dry production. The bass is audible and I like that, but the guitar tends to be really thin. I miss a more fat and juicy production. Of course that wouldn't change the actual songs, but it would have given them more nerve. Bottom-line is that Kvlt ov Dementia is just another run-of-the-mill effort.
