Dehumanized is the debut full-length from Regensburg, Germany based Common Grave. The music is some very standard sounding death metal. The band appear to be inspired by combos like Suffocation and Misery Index. The music rely much on the groove and to some degree also the hardcore elements that is one of Misery Index's characteristics. The music is well-played, but somehow it fails to capture my interest.

The Germans play tight and brutal, but it's like something is missing in the song-writing. Common Grave don't try any new tricks, but that's of no concern. What pulls down is that there is not much in the songs to remember. No doubt that Common Grave can play both fast, heavy and groove, but it's just not quite enough. That something extra that could have made Dehumanized a solid CD is not present and for this the Germans end up toying around the mediocre.
