Common Grave has tried to expand music-wise on Embedded Coding. The result is not all that interesting. The four-piece plays conventional Americanized death metal with a bit of groove. It's not bad, but the problem is that there's not a whole lot exciting going on. Many of the riffs are standard and without much strength.

The four-piece do vary the music with lots of fast riffs as well as adding some groove and a few contemporary parts. Moreover the bass is audible. It all does create some diversity, but the music overall just doesn't have what it takes. Common Grave is actually best when the band go for the brutal and in-your-face, like on "Earmageddon".

The Germans had John Gallagher from Dying Fetus and Elliot Desgagnes from Beneath The Massacre do some guest vocals, but it's nothing that makes a difference.

Above all Embedded Coding is a standard effort that does show expertise, but not in a way that set Common Grave apart from anything else.
