02. Invert Birth
03. Drenched in Human Sludge
04. Phantasm

Contortion is a fairly new band, but some of the guys have a past in other projects and that most certainly can be heard. The band state they are inspired by the likes of Deeds Of Flesh and Dying Fetus. I really don't hear this in the music. What I hear is a band that stylewise has more in common with their natives in Visceral Bleeding, Spawn Of Possession and Deviant. Contortion may not be quite as technical as some of the abovementioned, but it noticeable that there are certain references present. This of course hardly signalizes any new-thinking, but the Swedes are able to pull it off in a satisfying manner. The songs are diverse both in regard to pace and riffing. It doesn't hurt either that the production is crisp and heavy. It definitely helps push the music in a most positive direction. With a little more progression Contortion could become a really interesting experience.
