On the debut The Carrion Creed Dead Syndicate practice some solid, but hardly unheard death metal. The music is close to being generic, but the band knows how to write music and that is what saves them in the end. The songs are varied without being that overwhelming.

There are some similarities with Immolation on "Whore of Babylon" and a few other places as well. Other bands like Morbid Angel and Diabolic also appear to have had some sort of impact on the music. Don't get it wrong, Dead Syndicate don't sound like a clone of the aforementioned. Despite of the clear references now and then the band is able to establish a sound that isn't too close to the bands I mentioned above. The music has some almost groove things in it from time to time. These groove laden elements help shape the sound and distance Dead Syndicate to large degree from what I take as being their influences. Another difference is that Dead Syndicate aim for a slower approach. There's not a lot of blastbeats on The Carrion Creed. Of course there's nothing unheard in this, but still it makes the music sound kind of fresh.

The Carrion Creed is a pretty solid debut. The production is fat, but still clear. It fits the music very well. There's always room for improvement, but overall The Carrion Kind is an effort that promise well from what next to come from Dead Syndicate.
