Damn, this is some ultra brutal material. Chilean death metallers Defacing certainly don't take it easy on their debut Spitting Savagery. The music appear to be heavily inspired by Cryptopsy and Disgorge as well as Cannibal Corpse around Tomb of the Mutilated, but in particular the references to Cryptopsy are clear. The music is a firestorm of blastbeats, deep guttural growls and riff frenzy from start to finish. Not at any point do the band slow down or lose momentum. Defacing never seem to lose control of what they are doing.

A slight downside to all the savagery is that the songs do tend to sound a little too much alike once in a while, but it's nothing that spoils the overall impression. The production is somewhat dry and it gives plenty of room for the bass and guitars, just like it should be with this kind of death metal. The band finish it all of with a rendition of the Cryptopsy classic "Phobophile" and it's certainly not less brutal than the original. If you like your death metal to be relentlessly brutal and savage then Spitting Savagery is not to be overlooked as it doesn't come much more brutal than this.
