Discern is a Christian one-man band located in Richardson, Texas. A funny thing I couldn't help notice is that Billy Fraser is inspired by Satanic bands like Deicide and Unholy Ghost. There seem to be somewhat of a contradiction here, but enough about that. Billy is obviously inspired by many different bands and that can be heard. Unfortunately the result of Billy's hard efforts is anything but convincing. The largest and most critical problem on the CD is that there's nothing to remember it by. The songs sound both toothless and anonymous.

Unlike many other one-man efforts it doesn't sound like a band. The music isn't very tight or homogeny in its expression. To make things even worse Billy had Walk The Sky guitarist Rick Hunter-Martinez do some leads. It's bad enough that these don't fit the songs at all, but what makes it a total abomination is that it sounds like they have been placed on top of the music. They simply don't feel like an integrated part of the songs. No matter how I twist and turn it I can't think of anything nice to say about this effort.
