The two Polish bands Empheris and Cryptic Rites have teamed up on this split CD. Both bands play death metal with lots of black metal mixed in. As you can tell there's nothing uncommon about that and the two bands doesn't try to do anything to set them apart from the rest of the genre.

That of course doesn't make it bad and it isn't, but it's difficult to ignore that both bands actually sound the best when they play other bands songs. Empheris cover Death's "Corpsegrinder" and Darkthrone's "Hans Siste Vinter". Cryptic Rites cover Sodom's "Remember the Fallen" and that they do well. Their own songs aren't too exciting. Sure there are some alright moments, but nothing that you'll remember after a while.

It also seems that something went wrong in the mastering. There are some odd noises between the songs. It doesn't spoil the experience, but it does annoy a bit. I wouldn't say that Netherworld Emissions is a bad split CD. And as I already wrote it does have its moments, but above all that doesn't change that it's an average effort.
