The latest Exhumed CD, if you look apart from the Garbage Daze Re-Regurgitated CD and two split CD's, was issued in 2003. The band has been on hold from 2005 to 2010. I was hoping that the four-piece would put out something in the vein of 2003's Anatomy is Destiny and All Guts, No Glory is not too far off.

The music is typical Exhumed death metal. However the idolizing of Carcass is not as obvious as it used to be, but that's not a bad thing. Moreover the music is added a bit of thrash metal, but not anything too governing. Overall the Americans play fast, but the music has the needed groove and slower parts to stay interesting.

There are many good riffs and the songs are above all catchy. In particular the solos are good, these do add so much extra to song like "Through Cadaver Eyes" and "I Rot Within". The vocals are of course snarled and guttural. Some of the songs, like "As Hammer to Anvil" and Funereality"" do stagnate thanks to some less inspired riffs, but songs like "Through Cadaver Eyes", "I Rot Within" and "Necrotized" compensate for that.

The production is somewhat dry, but with enough crunch to give the music a rich and hard-hitting sound. I like that as you're able to hear most of what is going on. The lyrics and song-titles are great and that makes All Guts, No Glory a complete effort.

All Guts, No Glory is a worthy comeback. There may not be a whole lot, if anything that hasn't already been tried, but it sounds like Exhumed and that's good enough for me.
