I was looking forward to hearing the new album Made of Flesh from long running German death metallers Fleshcrawl. Made of Flesh is Fleshcrawl's seventh full-length release and it continues exactly where its predecessor Soulskinner left off.
Music-wise Fleshcrawl lies somewhere in between Dismember and Bolt Thrower so the sound isn't that original - but who cares! Made of Flesh delivers what it's expected to deliver: fairly varied old-school death metal. It's not overly exciting but still very decent. Fleshcrawl stick to their standard formula so there's not much new here... Actually, there's nothing but it doesn't matter since Fleshcrawl is a well oiled machine that knows how to craft some listen worthy songs There are a few tracks like the title track, "Made of Flesh", "Scourge of the Bleeding Haunted" and "When Life Surrenders" that stick out but the rest remain kinda anonymous.
Made of Flesh is a safe buy if you like what Fleshcrawl have released in the past. And fans of old school death metal in general shouldn't pass on this either. It's by no means a revelation but still a very decent release that lies a little over standard.
