I freely admit that I'm not familiar with any of the material from this quartet prior to Stigmata High-Five. With three CD's and a handful of splits in the luggage before this new effort, it's clear that Canadian grind schizoids Fuck The Facts are a well oiled unit who know exactly what they are doing.
The music is an odd mixture of lots of different styles, like noise, doom, grind and death metal, but the key focus is on a death metal-ish kind of grindcore. The music is much more than the common blastbeat contest. The band isn't afraid of gearing down in "La Derniére Image" or "Dead in the Ruins of Your Own City". The music almost stops, that's how slow it gets. This of course doesn't last long, and the band is quick to gearing two steps up again.
As you have probably already figured out, variation is a keyword. Vocalist Mel Mongeon also does hers to vary things by adding a bit of clean vocals in "La Derniére Image", but she mostly growls. It fits perfect to the music, but it would have been nice to hear a little more of that clean vocals. What Fuck The Facts is doing is a bit different from others without being too atypical.
