I sort of expected a little more of this than what it turns out to be. Grimness Avenue 69 is mostly a cocktail of grindcore and punk. It could be a lot worse than this blend, but unfortunately the Italians don't transfer this amalgam into something particular catchy or appealing. The music has its moments now and then, but it never affects the impression in a major way. The trio tries to vary things and to a degree they succeed, like for instance with "Meconium" or "Light or Extinction", but that something extra that would make it worthwhile is just not present.

The band is good at varying the pace which definitely prevents the music from sounding too much the same. A negative thing that does leave its mark is when the band tries to be funny by shouting and goofing around without music in tracks like "Ghost in My Brain" and "Skizophone Calling". I'm sorry to say, but it doesn't work. It's not funny at all. I wouldn't go as far as to call Grimness Avenue 69 a bad release because it have it' occasional moments, but viewed as a whole it's not a very convincing effort. However I do think the band has some worthwhile ideas. Hopefully they'll be able to push it further than the mediocre next time.
