GUTTED - Mankind Carries the Seeds of Hell
GENRE: Death metal COUNTRY: Hungary FORMAT: CD LABEL: SFC Records YEAR: November 30th, 2010 RATING: 4/10 REVIEWED BY: PSL PROVIDED BY: SFC Records Mankind Carries the Seeds of Hell is the third CD by the Hungarian band Gutted. The trio plays some straight forward death metal. I hear a bit of Diabolic and Krisiun in the music, mostly because of the drums. For the most part the three-piece just blast away and that quickly gets trivial. Largely the songs tend to sound alike and not even a solo now and then can change that. Of course there are bits and pieces that are somewhat interesting, but most of it tends to go unnoticed thanks to the drumming. But the drums are not solely to blame as most of the riffs and parts are generic and not catchy at all. The same goes for the vocals as there are little or no diversity in those. The production doesn't profit the music much either. It's feels hollow and dry. And the drums tend to be a bit too high in the mix and that bury the guitars and bass. Mankind Carries the Seeds of Hell is standard death metal when it's least interesting. If you like music in the vein of early Krisiun then you may find Gutted a little more exciting than I did. |
