HAEMORRHAGE - Haematology

GENRE: Goregrind
COUNTRY: Spain
FORMAT: CD
LABEL: Power It Up Records
YEAR: July 6th, 2007

RATING: 7/10
REVIEWED BY: PSL
PROVIDED BY: Power It Up Records

The Haematology CD is a compilation of various split CD's and EP's issued in the period 1994-2005. As a newbie to Haemorrhage's music Haematology isn't the worst place to start.

The Spaniards play goregrind. The music strongly inspired by Carcass, but also bands less bloody, like Napalm Death have been somewhat of an inspiration. But the band doesn't sound too much like any of the two. The band has its own style and sound.

The songs has been re-mixed and re-mastered. I think that was a good move as Haematology feels more like a real CD than "just" a set of various releases. Knowing that the music was made between 1994 and 2005 the changes in style and sound is limited. In a way I find that to be a good thing.

In terms of the music there's not much for the fan that already has most of what the band has put out. But for a newbie like myself there's a lot to find on Haematology .
