HEAVING EARTH - Diabolic Prophecies
GENRE: Death metal COUNTRY: Czech Republic FORMAT: CD LABEL: Redrum666 Records YEAR: September 15th, 2010 RATING: 7/10 REVIEWED BY: PSL PROVIDED BY: Heaving Earth I you love bands like Immolation, Morbid Angel and Hate Eternal then you'll like Heaving Earth. The Czech four-piece does little or nothing to hide their adoration of the three aforementioned bands. If that is a good or bad thing is of course a matter of taste. To me there are both pros and cons. But I like Immolation and Morbid Angel a lot so I can't really get too much of this kind of music. On the opposite the plagism is very obvious at times and I do miss more personality in the music, but the band is for the most part able to save it. It doesn't get too corny or for that matter bad or boring. Many of the riffs are interesting and the music is above all diverse with lots of catchy parts and various traits to make it exciting. The solos are just as unsettling as what Bob Vigna & Co does. I like this as it adds a lot to the feel of the music. What Heaving Earth is doing is not going to set them apart from so much else, but I like that there are bands that pay tribute to bands like Immolation and Morbid Angel and Heaving Earth is definitely among the better. |
