Two of the tracks on this demo is a taster of the coming full-length CD from the Czech death metal band Heaving Earth. As with their 2008 EP Vision of the Vultures the music is heavily inspired by Hate Eternal, Immolation and Morbid Angel, but contrary to previously Rob Vigna & Co seems to be the main inspiration nowadays and this is really obvious on "Beyond the Void".

Overall the music does sound a lot like Immolation, but to me that isn't the worst band to copy and Heaving Earth do it very well. The song-writing is competent. I like a lot what the four-piece does on "Beyond the Void". The riffs are interesting and the music above all is diverse with lots of catchy parts. The solos are also almost as disturbing as what Immolation does.

The band include a version of Morbid Angel's "Pain Divine". The version is very close to the original so if doesn't add much to the personality of the band, but I don't see that as a big problem here.

What Heaving Earth is doing is not something that is going to set them apart from so much else, but I like that there are bands that pay tribute to bands like Immolation and Morbid Angel and Heaving Earth is among the better.
