It's obvious right away that the Malaysian five-piece Humiliation adore bands like Bolt Thrower, Dismember and so on. Just like the Malaysians previous CD's the music on Seek to Survive is mostly inspired by Bolt Thrower and the five-piece doesn't try to hide that fact. The entire CD is jam packed with riffs and parts that easily could have been written by the Brits themselves.

That doesn't exactly give the music much personality, but to me that's not a big problem. The five-piece are good song-writers and overall I think the band has matured a bit. There are lots of catchy riffs and parts all over the CD. That's also what makes you ignore the lack of own ideas. I think songs such as "With One Objective" and "Towards the Target" display it all very well.

I've criticized it a bit in the past that the music lack greater diversity in terms of pace. The band has improved on that front. I still miss more fast parts, but to be honest it fits the bands Bolt Throwerish death metal just right. There are not many solos on the CD, but the few that are do add some additional strength to the songs.

Seek to Survive is a CD that has a lot of what it takes to be interesting, but as I wrote earlier there are things that I miss in the music. However that doesn't change the fact that the Malaysian five-piece are the Asian equivalent to Bolt Thrower. So if you're a fan of the Brits then you'll not be disappointed.
