Obscure death metallers Incantation have never made a habit out of surprising and I honestly can't say that they do with their new and sixth album Decimate Christendom but in my opinion that's not necessarily a bad thing. But while Decimate Christendom may not contain anything unheard within the framework of Incantation it still delivers what we have come to expect from this band throughout the years.

The music this time is of course still obscure and unholy death metal with a somewhat filthy and chaotic approach. The band has a very distinct sound that was first heard on their debut Onward to Golgotha and it hasn't changed drastically since and even though the sound on their later albums have become lesser muddy it still remains true to how it sounded on the debut. The only thing that have changed since their previous recording Blasphemy is the fact the founding member and guitarist John McEntee has taken over the vocal duties from Mike Saez who left the band. And it's nearly impossible to hear any difference so on that account that change hasn't brought anything new to the bands sound either.

Incantation may very well not surprise this time either and in a way I find that very admirable. The band shit on every trend and just keeps doing their thing unlike so many others out there. Sure Decimate Christendom doesn't bring anything new but who cares? It's a solid effort that witness that this cult band is far from finished.
