It's mostly hit or miss with many one-man bands - either they are utter shit or they are pretty good. Infinite Defilement is actually somewhere in between. Jacob Smith is inspired by brutal US death metal in the vein of Devourment and the likes. Obviously that makes it all predicable, but Jacob is able to add his own touch. The songs are fairly diverse, but without becoming overwhelming. The biggest problem is that the music doesn't feel very compact and that doesn't exactly benefit the brutality and tightness of the songs.
A lot of the problem is that the guitar often tends to vanish among the vocals and drums. The drums are of course programmed, but contrary to many other one-man bands Jacob has done a very good job here. It's easy to hear that it's not real drums, but they fit well with the music. Also Jacob has been able to find some good samples that actually go well with the songs. Promo 2008 belong among the better demos when we're talking one-man projects, but there's still some work to be done before it gets really interesting.
