K.A.S.K. is a Polish four-piece. Besides the EP Brutal Abstraction the band has put out the demo Cactus Core. The music is deathcore and the band goes for the conventional approach. Nothing wrong with that. However it does make the music predictable, but it doesn't matter much. The music is catchy. The riffs may be a bit standard, but nonetheless very good.

The song-writing is good. The band has a flair for writing riffs and parts that are interesting. I think songs like "Brutal Abstraction" or "Slave's Anathomy" exemplify that. Some of the riffs and parts make me think of later day Illdisposed although the two bands are different. Overall I like what the four-piece is doing. Just like Illdisposed the music often rely a lot on the heavy and groovy. It works very well.

The music isn't all that fast, but the band does gear up a notch or two if needed. However the focal point is mostly on the mid-paced and the band is able to avoid the music from getting boring. Moreover it doesn't hurt that the guitar tone is thick and juicy. The fat production profits the music and gives it the right strength. Brutal Abstraction is a potent effort so it will be interesting to hear what K.A.S.K. can do on the next CD.
