Okay this is brutal. Think Mortician and Devourment and you get an idea of how Katalepsy sound. Brutality is the common denominator here, but the Russians know that they need vary things a bit. Therefore they often slow the music down. The band also relies on the frog-like growls that are almost a trademark of this type of violent death metal. It works the way it should, but on the other hand it also make it difficult to tell Katalepsy apart from so much else.
The band doesn't try any new tricks at all, but it's actually not that important since you know what you get on Musick Brings Injuries.. A downside on the CD is the production. It's dry and seems to miss some real punch. The drums sound somewhat hollow. A fatter and fuller sound could easily have made it an even more brutal effort. Musick Brings Injuries is in many ways a standard effort. There's nothing on it that haven't already been tried before, but that doesn't necessarily make it a bad CD. If you like brutal death metal with ultra low growls then this might be worth a closer look.
