03. The Bereaved

I don't mind a little experimenting if it done well and it is on The Bereaved. Kevlar Skin doesn't sound like death metal bands do most. Actually the band they remind me the most of is Monstrosity around the Millennium album, but saying they sound alike would be wrong. However there are certain similarities particularly in the sound. The band experiments a bit here and there. Often the songs have an almost rock-like feel only to end up as full-fledged and quite brutal death metal. Moreover the music is very bass driven.

Often it breaks down into naked bass-lines which definitely are an asset as it put more colour to the sonic painting. The band fools around with the tempo which is another plus on the positive side. The vocals are deep and guttural. They help to give the music an even more brutal feel. The sound on The Bereaved is powerful, but also quite clinical. Particularly the drums have a clinical feel to them. Kevlar Skin do have potential and if they continue as heard on The Bereaved then it may just be a matter of time before they find themselves on a label.
