Italy's Lacerater play death metal with some ideas from grindcore and hardcore. This blend is not exactly something untried, but the five Italians have to a small degree created their own sound. The biggest problem however is that the music isn't very wide-ranging. Some of this could partially be blamed on the somewhat one-tracked vocals as they definitely pull the music in a negative direction, but also the music itself leaves a few things to be desired.
The band has chosen to sing in Italian and it does provide some of the needed identity, but as a whole it doesn't make much of difference. Lacerater doesn't show anything on Nessun Urlo Nell' Ombra that set them apart from most of what else is out there. The catchy elements that could have pulled the music above the mediocre are simply nowhere to be found. It's clear that the band has something to build on, but I doubt that Nessun Urlo Nell' Ombra will be the demo that land Lacerater a deal.
