LOOKING FOR AN ANSWER - Eterno Treblinka
GENRE: Grindcore COUNTRY: Spain FORMAT: CD LABEL: Relapse Records YEAR: June 7th, 2011 RATING: 5/10 REVIEWED BY: PSL PROVIDED BY: Relapse Records The Spanish five-piece Looking For An Answer play straight forward grindcore. There's nothing different in what the band is doing. The songs are short and stripped down and there's no redundant filler of any kind. There's variation in what the Spaniards are doing, I mean the music often vary between fast and slow, and there are unexpected changes in direction here and there. Another trait that I like is that the bass often surface in the music. It adds a rough feel to the songs. The music is diverse and in-your-face, but it's a problem that there are too few unforgettable songs or parts on Eterno Treblinka. Often it all feels a bit too banal and standard. Songs like "Tapias De Cementerio" "Christianislam", "Cheerleaders Para El Armegedon" do stand out to some extent. However it doesn't change the fact that the music tend to be somewhat anonymous a lot of the time. Iñaki do an all right job growling, but his vocals is not all that varied and that off course doesn't profit the music. He sings in Spanish, but it doesn't make much of a difference for the better or worse. The production is raw and dirty, kind of common for the grindcore genre. It fits the music well. Eterno Treblinka is not a bad effort, it's just a grindcore CD that is about as standard as it comes. |
