I liked the previous album Übermensch [Death of God] a lot so naturally I was very curious to hear if the Polish death metallers could outdo themselves this time. The answers is yes, although the band have downtuned the use of keyboards to a minimum this time and that is in a way a shame because it added a lot of variation and atmosphere to the soundscape. On the other hand it makes the music even more savage and relentless and that is saying quite a bit. Everything just sounds even crazier this time around. The drums are faster, the vocals are sicker, the heavy parts are heavier and the leads are even more twisted than before.
The album is furthermore soaked in a clear yet thick and juicy production which fits perfectly and thus adding even more nerve and downright aggression to the overall sound. Songs like "Godstate", "Mortal Cage", "Christian Meat", "Angel's Cry" and the ferocious and yet somewhat epic closer "The Birth of BABALON" are the ones which instantly sinks in, but the remaining material is worthwhile too. Actually there's not a single bad song on Chaostream. If you thought Übermensch [Death of God] was good then I wouldn't hesitate a second in purchasing Chaostream simply due to the fact that it's its predecessor superior in every way.
