It's limited what I know about Mastic Scum other than that they have quite a few releases on their résumé. This compilation contains 32 songs, all which are taken from the vinyl releases that the Austrians have put out between 1993 and 2002. Moreover there are two previously unreleased tracks on The EP's Collection 1993-2002 as well. The music is a mixture of grindcore and death metal, but is mostly centred on the grindcore influences. It does have its charm, but it tends to get a little boring in the long run. In smaller dozes it works fine.

Having in mind that this is a compilation it works as a good introduction to the band and their music. There's a bit of both on the CD. There are live songs, own songs and the Austrians renditions of songs by Unseen Terror, Righteous Pigs and Agathocles to name three. The sound varies a bit, but overall the production is dry and not too compact. If you already have the vinyl versions then there's really not a lot to find here, but if you're a newbie to Mastic Scum then The EP's Collection 1993-2002 doesn't seem like the worst place to start.
