One thing I never get tired of is death metal like it was played in the early nineties and death metallers Mausoleia pretty much stick to that formula. Style wise the music is rooted in German death metal [surprise, the band is German], but with strong references to US death metal and bands like Suffocation and Obituary appear to have been among the influences, but Mausoleia does not sound like a clone of the aforementioned. The songs are very bass driven which suits music very well and add even more flavour to the soundscape. The music is mainly kept in a moderate and steady pace, but it regularly quickens, however without becoming ultra fast. There are some samples here and there, but they don't really add or withdraw anything from the music.

The production is fairly good, but it appears a little dry and flat so the music doesn't sound quite as brutal as it probably should. Nevertheless it's a minor detail that doesn't spoil the overall impression musically. The music is varied and the regular switches in tempo, not to mention the clear presence of the bass is what makes Being worth listening to more than just a couple of times. I found most of the material on Being to be quite good, but in particular the catchy and very Iniquity-like "Cancer Ward" and the mid-paced "Fools Tower" appeared to be the most worthwhile. Being is a solid effort that is worth buying if you want some real underground death metal.
