If you like music in the vein of Cynic or later Death then you'll love Into the Swirl. It's obvious that the Czech four-piece is inspired by the aforementioned, but also Atheist, Sadist and Spheres era Pestilence has had an impact on the music.

The song-writing is very good and the band knows how to make the music exciting. The songs are diverse with lots of changeups and abnormal riffs, but it's not like the Czechs are overdoing it. There's a nice balance in the songs, but most of all the music has the right amount of catchy riffs and parts to be interesting. I like the solo part on "Inner Consciousness" a lot, but as a whole the music is competent.

As with the abovementioned bands the bass also get a lot of space here and it add lots to the vibe of the music. I also like the diversity in the vocals. These go from a harsh type of vocals to a more clean style and it fits very well with the rest of the music.

The references to in particular Cynic and Death are many and it does wear of on the music, but not necessarily in a bad way. Although it doesn't exactly provide the songs with a lot of personality, but the four-piece play so convincingly that it doesn't matter much.

Into the Swirl is above all a nice piece of work. There's really not much, if anything to criticize, so if you like Cynic or later day Death then it's an effort that is hard to avoid.
