Constant Negative is a MCD made up of various bits and pieces - there's five new songs, a version of Metallica's "Fight Fire with Fire" and a couple of re-recordings.
The American four-piece Morgue Supplier plays brutal death metal in the vein of Suffocation and Gorguts around the Obscura CD. The music is above all conventional, but the Americans do add some personality to the songs, but nothing that really set the band apart from so much else in the genre.
In many of the songs there is a strong link to Gorguts and Suffocation. It's nothing that spoils anything, but it is difficult to ignore. I like what the band has done with Metallica's "Fight Fire with Fire". It's nice to hear the song exposed to some additional speed and brutality. "Open Sore Abuse" and "Convulsive Reoccurrence" were both on the 2004 CD Sociopath, but has been re-recorded.
The music may be conventional, but above all Constant Negative is an okay MCD. The music is diverse, tightly played and brutal from start to finish. Fans of death metal and extreme music in general should have no problem liking this.
