A lot of one-man projects have come out of the woodwork lately and most are of a doubtful quality, but Mortiferous Scorn belongs among the better. The music is standard death metal with some almost mellow inputs now and then. The songs are not overly fast or brutal. It seems as if Alexander Oden has tried to make the music catchy rather than just going for the brutal. Opposite to many one-man bands Alexander also occasionally add a solo or two.

Overall The Perfect Impurity is a varied effort, but a minor downside is the mid-tempo feel most of the songs have. This tends to get somewhat boring in the long run. The computer drums are partially to blame for this. The programming is not bad, but I miss some more diversity. This is probably also why the music doesn't always appear overly tight. The fat and crisp production does to some degree make many of these issues less obvious. The Perfect Impurity is an alright effort that should have no problem appealing to the average death metal fan.
