This split CD from Blockheads and Mumakil is a brutal effort, but clocking a little under 10 minutes it's also a very short one. Both bands come up with grindcore that is standard one way or the other. It's all predictable, but nonetheless very good. Blockheads starts out with some typical energetic grindcore on the two first songs, but the Frenchmen show on "Follow the Bombs" that they also know how to gear down and vary things a little more without loosing any brutality. Common for the three songs is that the music is diverse and vigorous.
Mumakil has already made some murmur in the underground and now that the Swiss have inked a deal with Relapse Records it seems like the band is well on their way up. Mumakil show with the three short tracks that they stand for brutal and straight-in-your-face grindcore mixed with a bit of death metal. Just like Blockheads the band knows how to vary things enough so it doesn't end up as indifferent noise. Blind is an okay split CD, but it will most likely first and foremost appeal to people who already are fans of the bands.
