The Sardinian deathers Mutilated Soul are a band that is deeply enthused by American death metal and in particular Incantation appears to have been an important inspiration. The references are noticeable especially on the vocal side, but the Italians don't sound like a rip-off. Musically they bring a lot of other elements to their music, but their style is anything but atypical. The songs are mostly very fast, but there's also room to lower the pace or even raise it further. It makes the music interesting to listen to as it not just a one-tracked blastbeat contest. Another positive thing that helps pep up the music more is that the band often throws in a lead or two. It adds a lot to the variation of the soundscape and provides the songs with identity.

The Decomposition EP is very professionally done. The music is tightly played and the sound is thick and powerful. With a running time clocking close to 28 minutes there's definitely value for the money here. I just wonder a little why the band themselves has put this out? I mean I would be surprised if the wasn't a label who would release the EP as it's a lot better than what sometime finds it way to a label. I hope these Italians get signed as it would be a shame not to hear more from their hand.
