On their latest release Hatred, Failure and the Extinction of Mankind UK death metal band Nailed practice some rather generic Americanized death metal. Not that there's anything wrong in this and the band do play both brutal and tight, but the problem is that most of the songs tend to go almost nowhere. Nailed do come up with some solid riffs on "Rupture Savoir" and "Circle of Decay", but other than that it all feels too anonymous.

I admit that Hatred, Failure and the Extinction of Mankind has grown a bit on me, but largely the CD still fail to grab my attention for long. There's just not enough variety on it to make up for the straight forward approach. The production is okay. It's thick and gives the music a dark appearance. For the diehard Nailed fan Hatred, Failure and the Extinction of Mankind is a must, but if you're just looking to buy a new CD I would pass on this one.
