I had not heard any news on Necromorph in a while so I sure that the band had broken up, but fortunately that's not how it is. The band has put out a couple of split CD's and an EP, but Grinding Black Zero is the first full-length from the German four-piece.

Like in the past the music is death metal with elements of grindcore and thrash metal. The band has adopted a guitar tone that is close to how Dismember sound. Actually I spot a bit of Rotten Sound and some early Impaled in there as well. The music is straight forward and without the big surprises. Of course that doesn't need to be a bad thing and Necromorph is also able to get away with it convincingly.

The songs are mostly fast and energetic. There are lots of catchy parts and riffs. "Convicted to Breath" is an example of that. That song makes me think of The Dead Shall Dead Remain era Impaled, but besides that the two bands have too much in common.

The four Germans mostly play fast, but In spite of that the music is diverse. Here are the needed break downs and changes in tempo to keep it exciting. I also like that the bass is easy to hear and a equal part of the soundscape.

Grinding Black Zero is no work of art, but it's a firm effort that should have no problem appealing to any person that likes brutality with a catchy twist.
