For some reason I automatically thought of US deathers Nile when I saw the logo and artwork, but the Italian death metallers Nefas don't really have anything in common with Nile. The music is technical death metal with strong references to Immolation, but Nefas have their own sound and style. It's clear that the Italians are no newcomers and the band does also have one full-length release in their luggage.

The music is technical and chaotic. The three songs on the promo are good, but they seem to miss that something extra that makes the music durable. That is also the biggest issue on Promo 2006. The songs are skilfully played, but the music lacks the catchiness that would make it really appealing. Interesting things do turn up in "Dust of Centuries" and "Keeper of Forbidden Words" so obviously the band has the ideas. All it seems to take is a little more work musically and it all could become way more attractive. The band definitely has what it takes.
