The Brazilian death metal machine known as Nephasth is finally ready with the successor to 2001's Immortal Unholy Triumph. Conceived by Inhuman Blood is a fierce and utterly brutal album that brings to mind fellow Brazilian combos like Krisiun and Rebaelliun but also bands like Morbid Angel and Vader seems to have had a certain influence.
Conceived by Inhuman Blood is a very decent release but a slight downside is that it doesn't really contain any surprising elements. Most of the songs sound like they've built upon the same formula that Krisiun uses but in a way it doesn't really matter much 'cause it's obvious that Nephasth know how to play their instruments and they do manage to add a some identity of their own to the songs. Despite the seemingly lack of innovation Nephasth still creates some very listenable and energetic death metal that ought to satisfy most people. I must admit that I find Nephasth's way of death metal slightly better than Krisiun's despite the obvious similarities. There are really no songs on Conceived by Inhuman Blood that truly stand out. All compositions are equally great but after a while a couple of them seem to sound a bit alike.
Conceived by Inhuman Blood is a worked through album that in its own delicate way blasts ahead in a head on collision with death, leaving a solid impression with the listener.
