EXMORTEM
Exmortem, which is said to be "probably Denmark's oldest and most loyal death metal band," has issued the following update:
"The new album is done and is right now being mixed by Jacob Bredahl, who is doing everything he can to make sure this will be one smelly, wet, sleazy fist in your face.
"It looks like the new 'trend' is saying that your are going to avoid the very clinical/perfect/trigger sound, but one thing is saying it, another is actually doing it! This album will be raw, ugly and powerful as a fucking nuclear bomb.
"The band is right now hard at work making the visuals that can match the sound and atmosphere created in the studio."
Exmortem's new CD will feature the following tracks:
01. Funeral Phantom
02. Black Opium
03. Fixed In Slime
04. The Vultures Gather
05. Anger Trumpet Blow
06. A View To a Death in the Morning
07. Slow Death Regimes
08. Salvation
09. Conquisitor
10. For the Grave of History

MORTICIAN
New York-based death metallers Mortician have issued the following update:
"2008 will see Mortician's first-ever DVD release. Concert footage from various shows in the U.S. and out of the country will be featured, some in raw form, others in professional multi-angle camera shots. Total time should be anywhere from 1 to 1-1/2 hours. Out in the summer 2008.
"Next: Mortician will not be releasing a split CD with the Polish goregrind gods Dead Infection as planned. We have been delayed due to recording problems and Dead Infection was under contract to release new material on another label in April so now both bands will release separate MCD's.
"Mortician will have 11 brand new tracks and a cover of Dead Infection's "From the Anatomical Deeps". It will also feature drummer Sam Inzerra's first live drums recording ever on a Mortician release. A vinyl version on Haunted Hotel Records will be released shortly after.
"Mortician will be playing a few limited shows and festivals in the US in 2008 [sorry, but no out-of-the-country shows due to criminal records and the insane amount of work we have lined up in 2008 for Mortician Records, Redrum Records and Primitive Recordings]."

We have been rehearsing intensely since drummer Jeremy Suckling joined the fold and we feel these new tracks represent the strongest material, musically and lyrically and ideologically that we have produced since our inception.
We are currently shopping around for a deal and will be returning to the studio, and hitting the road, in the Northern Hemisphere early in the second half of the year. Expect great things!"

SARPANITUM
Wasting no time following vocalist/bassist Andy Techakosit recent announcement that he would be leaving Sarpanitum to pursue his academic career, the band are pleased to welcome Vic Lochab to their ranks. Vic's musical ability and enthusiasm made the decision to take him on as a session bassist a no-brainer and the foursome are looking forward to hitting the stage again with a new sense of vigour. Lead vocal responsibilities will now be handled by guitarist Mark Broster, who is not only excited by this new challenge but eager to put his pipes to good use in the name of Sarpanitum.
Some might think that the departure of a band's original member would have a detrimental effect. Not so for Sarpanitum. Restructuring their set-up has breathed a new life into the band whose previous live shows and debut album, Despoilment of Origin, saw them hailed as the UK's brightest hope in underground death metal circles by numerous publications, webzines and audiences alike. For Sarpanitum it marks a turning point; symbolising the start of a new chapter in the band's history. Material for their second album is already underway and promises to raise the bar for UK death metal even further still…

ILLDISPOSED
Guitarist Jakob Batten of the Danish extreme metallers Illdisposed has issued the following update:
"The recordings [for the new Illdisposed album] are done!!! All drums, guitars, bass and vocals are now recorded. Next week we'll spend a day checking if everything's perfect or if something has to be corrected. Then we'll send the sessions to Fredrik Nordström so he can start mixing the album on December 3rd. Bo [Summer, vocals] and I will go to Sweden to mix with Fredrik.
"The new album is recorded differently compared to the previous two albums. We didn't really cut into the tracks while recording so nearly everything you'll hear is first takes. We want it all to sound more raw and alive this time. A lot of the new albums you hear these days are so tight and over-produced that it doesn't sound like humans playing anymore and in the long run you get tired of it - I think.
"The front cover for the album will be made by Mattias Norén [who yesterday revealed that he will quit making album artwork]. So I guess our cover will be one of the last covers you'll see him."

DECAPITATED
Drummer Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka of the Polish extreme metal band Decapitated passed away in a Russian hospital from injuries sustained in a recent road collision. He was 23 years old.
Vitek and Decapitated singer Covan [real name: Adrian Kowanek] were hurt in an accident earlier in the week involving Decapitated 's tour bus and a truck carrying wood in Gomel, on the Russia/Belarus border. Both musicians reportedly sustained serious head injuries in the collision, which is believed to have been the fault of the band's driver [although this has not yet been officially confirmed].
According to the Polish Internet portal Onet.pl, Vitek underwent trepanation, a form of surgery in which a hole is drilled or scraped into the skull, and was due to be transported to a hospital in Krakow, Poland for further treatment.
Covan's family released a statement yesterday [Thursday, November 1st] that the vocalist's condition had improved. At the time, the vocalist was still said to be at a hospital in Novozybkov, Russia, where he and Vitek were taken following the accident.

DEICIDE
Guitarist Ralph Santolla has released a statement to Blabbermouth.net contradicting an Earache Records press release which claimed that Ralph was "rejoining" Deicide and was taking part in the recording sessions for the group's new album, Till Death Do Us Part.
"I am not, and never was, rejoining Deicide," Ralph told Blabbermouth.net. "I have no idea why anyone would put out the statement I just read on Blabbermouth.
"I agreed to play on the new [Deicide] CD for two reasons: first, I owe one more album on the contract I signed, and I want to be absolutely free from Earache as soon as possible. Secondly, Steve Asheim [Deicide drummer] is my good friend and a great musician, I love his music. I gave my best in the studio because his music deserves it, and because that is the way I work.
"When things fell apart with Deicide, I was fortunate enough to land in Obituary. I am totally happy being in this band in every way, and the only regret I have is that this good fortune came at the expense of Big Al [Allen West, ex-Obituary guitarist] having some pretty serious problems."
Deicide is currently putting the finishing touches on its new album, Till Death Do Us Part, at Morrisound Studios in Florida for an early 2008 release via Earache.

"This might not come as any huge surprise to some of you seeing we have been terribly inactive for quite some time. God Among Insects will split up in 2008, some four or so years later than initially planned. But first we will do a final gig and enjoy the time on stage for the last time with the band.
"God Among Insects will do the last-ever gig at the House Of Metal festival [in Sweden in February 2008].
"Thanks for all the support you fuckers have given us during the years. We existed about four more years than initially planned, but now it's time to kill the Insect for good. It's been a fun ride for all of us and we will continue with our regular bands even after the demise of the bug, of course.
"We look forward to this last gig and plan some seriously disturbed shit on stage. Hopefully everything works out as we want them to so we can fulfil this last zombie wish."

CARCASS
Reactivated British extreme legends Carcass have been confirmed for next year's installment of the Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place July 31 - August 2, 2008 in Wacken, Germany. .
Commented Carcass bassist/vocalist Jeff Walker: "Well, they said it would never happen. In fact I said it would never happen. Then I noticed no one pays attention to what I say anyway and I sounded like an idiot...
"Summer 2008 will be the twentieth anniversary since the release of Carcass' first studio album. It will be fourteen years since we last played live.
"We've decided to exhume the old corpse next summer at Wacken. The timing is purely coincidental - it's been a long journey to get to this point where myself, Bill Steer [guitar] and Mike Amott [guitar; also of Arch Enemy] have enough common desire again to make it possible. We're finally conceding to the demand that seems to be at an all time high and doesn't appear to be going away any time soon. Any past reasons we may have had for not wanting to do it, or thinking it was impossible, have simply dissipated in the face of overwhelming interest in us performing those riffs for a generation of believers who never had the opportunity back in the day. We could say we're doing it for 'the kids' - but fuck that! We're doing it 'cos it will be fun again to play the classic Carcass tunes!
"Of course, it would seem inappropriate for us to contemplate to do this without Ken Owen [drums], but I assure you he'll be there, and we'll push some sticks in his hands and make him play, plus we'll have a killer drummer to sit in and play his parts.
"Myself, Jeff Walker on bass and vocals, 'the semi-legendary' Bill Steer and Mike Amott on lead guitar and Daniel Erlandsson [Arch Enemy], filling in for Ken on drums look forwards to mutilating your hearing.
"And if we don't do it? Who else will overshadow the Led Zeppelin reunion? Ha! Prepare to rot and roll"

DEICIDE
Legendary death metal outfit Deicide has begun work on its ninth studio album at Florida's Morrisound Studios. Entitled Till Death Do Us Part, the follow-up to 2006's The Stench of Redemption promises to be Deicide's "most savage and aggressive [offering] to date," according to a press release. Drummer Steve Asheim has begun the process by laying down drum tracks on a set of songs that retain all the high-speed intensity of the last album, but throw in a few surprises along the way.
Commented Asheim: "The songs will have a very evil and chaotic nature to them and will include the extensive arrangements and riffage that made The Stench of Redemption so great. "There's no mistaking... it's Deicide. It feels like a cross between The Stench of Redemption and Legion, and is definitely the next logical step for Deicide."
Once the music is down, the final stage will be for Glen Benton to contribute his unique vocal approach, with recordings scheduled for completion as early as November. Till Death Us Do Part is expected to be released early 2008.
"We keep pushing what we do," concluded Asheim. "The guitars are even more sinister...the drums even more brutal. Deicide fans may be shocked at how fast this came around, but they're going to eat it up."

DEVOURMENT
Original Devourment vocalist Wayne Knupp passed away earlier today due to multiple organ failure that was caused by years of alcohol abuse. His girlfriend Jessica Gant has released the following statement to Blabbermouth.net:
"First of all, I want to say thank you to everybody who has sent kind words. They are very much appreciated and I told Wayne about everybody who sent him messages.
"Unfortunately the rumours you all heard are true and our dear friend Wayne Knupp has passed away today [September 15] at 2:15 p.m. due to multiple organ failure that was caused by years of alcohol abuse. Wayne spent 2 ½ weeks in the hospital with a lot of people fighting for him. His family and friends played a big role in supporting him during this difficult time.
"As you all know, Wayne was a major supporter and contributor to the death metal scene for most of his life. He remained loyal to his fans and always stayed brutal till the end. Just yesterday he was throwing up the horns! He never turned anybody away and would give the shirt off his back to help if he could.
"Just to let you all know, he did pass away very peacefully with his close family and friends around his bedside. I held his hand as he took his last breath, and the last thing he heard was that we were all there and he wasn't alone.
"For those of you that could not be there the last couple weeks, do not feel any remorse because he knew you all were thinking of him and that is what kept him fighting 'till the very end.
"For any of you, who have thought about starting a fund or having a benefit, please contact me before anything takes place. It is his family's request that nothing take place without their consent. I will keep you all posted about a memorial service for Wayne that will be held up by Chicago in the near future.
"Thank you all for your love and support. It's very comforting in a time like this."

Regarding the new deal with Willowtip Records, Sewage stated, "Impaled is looking forward to working with the Willowtip empire. We will murder our enemies, burn their crops, loot their stores, stampede their women and rape their cattle."

We urge everyone in kingdoms worldwide not to purchase the traditional gifts of tin or aluminum for this 10th anniversary celebration, but instead to purchase the new album from Impaled, which will be in stores throughout Europe November 5th and in North America November 6th."

EMETH
Belgian extreme deathsters Emeth have nearly completed writing and arranging material for their third full album and are preparing to enter the studio.
"The band is stoked to announce the fact that they will soon enter the Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland with the Wieslawscy brother's as producers [Vader, Decapitated, Kronos] to record the follow-up to it's highly acclaimed predecessor Reticulated.
The recordings will start on September 12th. Mixing and mastering is scheduled during late October, aiming for an early 2008 release via Brutal Bands.
Currently the band is in the last stage of an elaborate process of songwriting and pre-production recordings in order to finalize this new slab of modern extremity. It will feature the most mature and ambitious material from the band thus far, demonstrating a great step forward in terms of composition and arrangements.
Recently added second guitarist Valéry Bottin will make his recording appearance and Blood Red Throne bassist Erlend Caspersen is recruited to play bass. His creative and non-standard approach to the instrument will add many depth and dynamics to the album.
Due to the Wieslawscy brother's trademark of very big, massive and modern mixings the new Emeth album will display a more diverse and intense sound which should attract both old and new fans as well. Look out for this record!"

DEICIDE
Earache Records head honcho Digby Pearson has revealed that Deicide has finished demoing most of the material that will appear on the group's next album, tentatively due in early 2008. "Touring as been curtailed as Glen [Benton, bass/vocals] has some legal issues pending but that has given the main writer - Steve Asheim [drums] - plenty of time to get creative," Digby said. "Both Jack Owen [guitar; ex-Cannibal Corpse] and Steve have been working on demoing some more 'rock- based' projects and Ralph [Santolla; guitar] was ousted during the turmoil, but he quickly resurfaced as Obituary's guitarist.
Pearson continued, "Deicide did look to be going nowhere - but - incredibly, out of the blue, we just received eight new Deicide songs in demo form, and they are incredible, like The Stench of Redemption material but now even faster, if such a thing is possible. The band - Glen, Jack, Steve and probably Dave Suzuki [of Vital Remains] [ex-guitarist Ralph Santolla might just appear as guest soloist?] will more than likely enter Morrisound Recording in September to record the new album. Earache will officially announce its release nearer the time, probably in stores around January 2008.
"As ever with Deicide, all information is subject to change."

On bass we have enlisted Mike Pogionne of Monstrosity / Lecherous Nocturne and at this time second guitar duties will be filled by none other than long-time friend Rob Barrett of Cannibal Corpse. At this point we have not approached any labels about the release and we intend to have the cap on it December 15th, 2007 for an early 2008 release."

ILLDISPOSED
Danish extreme metallers Illdisposed have issued the following update:
"We are no longer part of the Roadrunner family. Roadrunner didn't pick their third option with us - and honestly that was what we hoped for. We had a great time with Roadrunner, but it was a big problem to us that they refused to release our albums in the U.S. and other important territories. Their company structure and way of working doesn't fit a death metal band; we're not mainstream enough for that. But they did open a lot of doors for us and we're grateful for that.
"Anyway, we've spent the last months negotiating with other labels and we will present our new label within the next few weeks. I can tell that this time we will be priority and that the new album will be out everywhere."

"I am totally ecstatic to have Shaune in the band and recreate a guitar team that always connected on all fronts. Shaune's contribution to the new record will be tremendous as well as touring that will follow. It will be the first time Hate Eternal will actually be a four-piece live band, due to other situations never working out.
"Rehearsals have been amazing jamming with Alex, Jade, and Shaune for the last couple of months at Mana Studios. The new songs are finished and sounding awesome! We have spent much more time on the preparation of this new album on all fronts compared to our past releases and the results have provided a much more focused and deeper layered results [more solos, yes!]. We start recording the drums on August 21st and then following through, finishing by mid-October for an early 2008 Metal Blade release."

CRUCIFIX
Crucifix is once again a five-piece. Rune Gangelhof [Bloodrush, Megalomania 999] has joined the legion as the permanent lead-guitarist. We are certain that this will add a new dimension to our live performance and studio recordings.
Furthermore, during the past months we have been negotiating with the French record label Aural Offerings and we are proud to announce that we have come to an agreement on a brilliant deal.
This means that we began recording our debut full-length album at All Sound Studios, Herning, Denmark, on June 1st. The CD contains 12 hellish and very fast songs. Right now we have done all the drum tracks and almost all of Mortens rhythm guitars. Tore Stjerna at Necromorbus Studios [Watain, Funeral Mist, Merrimack] will do the mastering.

OBITUARY
Obituary frontman John Tardy has posted the following message on the group's official web site:
"There is so much going on! The most important thing is the recording/mixing of the new CD and that is going amazing! These new songs are so heavy and we are happy and lucky to announce that Ralph Santolla [ex-Deicide, Death] is helping us with some of the guitar work. To have someone like Ralph working with us is totally new to Obituary and I can't tell you how excited we are. This new album, Xecutioner's Return, is just coming to life!
"I know there has been a lot of speculation about what we were going to do for another guitarist now that Allen West is unavailable. It is kind of strange how things work out. We have known Ralph for a long time and it is no surprise how good of a guitar player he is, but what was really nice is how good we work with each other and how good we get along. Not only is Ralph recording with us, but he will also be going with us to Europe in July and on our U.S. tour in September.

CRYPTOPSY
Guitarist Alex Auburn of the Canadian death metallers Cryptopsy has confirmed that the band has once again parted ways with singer Lord Worm [a.k.a. Dan Greening]. No reason was given for Lord Worm's departure, but according to Auburn, this time the vocalist was "kicked out" of the band and didn't leave of his own accord.
Cryptopsy is currently looking to audition candidates to fill the positions of singer/frontman and keyboardist/samplist. Vocalists must be able to sing in clean voice, on pitch, and also be able to scream/growl. If you are motivated and would like to try out, e-mail the band at crymusic@hotmail.com. If you have a criminal record, don't bother auditioning, as this means you can't tour.

New album is almost fully written. Personally, I think it will be the most complex, yet most 'catchy' Gorgasm release so far. We have performed couple of new songs at some of our shows and crowd just went nuts! So, we will see if people will dig the whole alblum."

DEEDS OF FLESH
Southern California death metallers Deeds Of Flesh have parted ways with founding member Jacoby Kingston [bass, vocals]. Taking his place in the group will be Erlend Caspersen from Norway.
Jacoby has issued the following statement on the matter:
"To begin, I want to express my gratitude to all of the Deeds Of Flesh fans and friends out there who have supported me throughout my 14-year tenure as bassist/vocalist for the band. It makes me sad to know that I won't see a lot of you whom I have come to know so well. As for myself, I can no longer live the life of a travelling musician; therefore, I am giving up my position in the band to someone who can put 100% into it and keep the music going strong. I will continue to support the band and help out in any way I can. I still love death metal and all things dark and that will not change. This was a hard decision, but it is for the betterment of Deeds Of Flesh. It would not be fair to my band mates to not put full effort into the music.
"Erland will do a kick-ass job in my place. Many of you have seen him play with Vile on the European and U.S. tours in 2006. The guy is a freakin' machine. He will play on the new album and will tour with the band. He is a great guy and I am glad someone like him will replace me."

DISGORGE
California death-grind band Disgorge has issued the following update:
"Word's got around that we're calling it quits, or Ricky's [Myers, drums] quitting the band. Fortunately for our fans' peace of mind is that none of it's true. There's things going on, but don't chat forum yourselves into nostalgia thinking the worst! What is true is that Ben [Marlin, bass] has undergone treatments for cancer, and will be finished early February if the chemo zaps that shit out of him completely. Ben has been pretty positive about the docs' speculations, and we as his bandmates and friends are crossing our fingers for his speedy recovery…. Ricky has moved to Texas and is playing in Sarcolyptic with Images Of Violence vocalist and Disgorge album cover artist JonZig, but [with] 16 years as the sole founding member of Disgorge, he is not letting go of that title at all whatsoever! The rest of us have all been taking care of some personal expenses from previous tours and other monetary-related issues within each band member so we can continue to keep doing what we do best whilst keeping a roof over our heads, food in our guts, and maintaining vehicles to get around. We do expect the next CD to be finished recording by late this year or early next year. So, with that said, be patient, fans, and friends. Material is coming at a slow pace, mostly because of certain personal situations abroad Disgorge, but we assure you that once our personal routines in numerous aspects come into play, then so will fitting a full focused uninterrupted practice and writing schedule. Thank you for your concerns and indefinite patience and support!"

Veteran Florida-based extreme metallers Malevolent Creation have commenced the recording sessions for their tenth full-length album, Doomsday X. "Dave [Culross] finished tracking the drums and arrived home this evening," the band writes in an update. "They recorded 12 songs and Dave is very happy with the natural feel they achieved, without sounding overly mechanical. The ProTools at their disposal were not used to alter the drum sounds. Dave wanted to give everone a real feel for his power and style, without the over use of recording technology. They are taking about a week break and then the guitar tracking starts. Dave and the band are very pleased with the progress so far and can't wait for the upcoming tours."
Malevolent Creation previously stated about the new material, "We're very happy with the direction the music has taken for this new album with songwriting credits by each of the bandmembers, and each song having its own identity but retaining the classic Malevolent Creation sound. It is truly amazing to have everyone writing for this album and brings a lot of new ideas to the songs. "Decrepit Birth is very happy to announce that bassist Risha Eryavec is officially returning to the band! Due to recent situations, Risha feels that his place is with us, as our permanent bassist. We couldn't be more happy to have our brother back with us. Hopefully this will be the first step in moving on from the devastating situation we have been dealing with over the past month. Also, we would like to thank Erlend Caspersen for offering his amazing skills to help us out. Even though he never actually did any recording or touring with us, the fact that he so generously offered his talent to contribute to the band was really cool.
"We will be moving ahead with the recording of the next album and plans to record in February of 2007 are still on! We are also working on setting up some really good tours and fests for 2007."

MALEVOLENT CREATION
Veteran Florida-based extreme metallers Malevolent Creation have issued the following update:
"The band has completed the writing and pre-production demos for 13 songs and will begin the recording of their tenth full-length album, Doomsday X, in the coming weeks of November. We're very happy with the direction the music has taken for this new album with songwriting credits by each of the bandmembers, and each song having its own identity but retaining the classic Malevolent Creation sound. It is truly amazing to have everyone writing for this album and brings a lot of new ideas to the songs. Fear not, each song is extremely brutal and covers a lot of territory as far as extreme metal is concerned.
"The album's recording and touring lineup is:
Jon Rubin - Guitars
Phil Fasciana - Guitars
Dave Culross - Drums
Jason Blachowicz - Bass
Brett Hoffmann - Vocals
"We have definitely had some huge obstacles to overcome to get this album written, but we are finally satisfied with all the music and are anxious to start recording."
Malevolent Creation will team up with Rotting Christ, Carpathian Forest, Incantation, Neuraxis and Harm for "The Domination Tour 2007" beginning on February 14, 2007 in Berlin, Germany.

DECREPIT BIRTH
Mike Turner, the ex-guitarist of Santa Cruz, California-based death metallers Decrepit Birth has been arrested on charges of child molestation and sexual battery.
The band has issued the following statement:
"We are absolutely sickened at this, as we had no clue of the situation. This news has deeply troubled us over the past few days since we found out. We thought we knew Mike over the years but his deceptive ways just show us what a monster of a human he is. We trusted him and he violated people very close to us. We have no sympathy for him as we are all coping with the severity of this. It is hitting all of us on a deeply personal level.
"Our best wishes and prayers go out to the victims, and families that have been affected by this horrible crime. We will do all that we can to help the authorities press full charges against Mike, as we feel that he should receive the maximum penalty that the law will allow, even though that would never make up for what he did. We are asking that fans of Decrepit Birth give us their support and understanding, and to not hold us responsible for his actions.
"Mike is not an original member of the band - he joined a couple of years back and never contributed to the musical aspect; he was basically a live guitarist.
"This is the worst thing that has happened to us over the 10 years that Decrepit Birth has been a band. Our emotions are very twisted over this and all we can say is that we hope Mike Turner rots in prison forever.
