We don't want our listeners to wait too long for a new record; therefore we'll release this collection for the fans that are into brutal death metal. Hope it's worth the wait." He stuck with us for five-plus long years of writing and travelling the death metal roads! He was an amazing musician and bass player. He had contributed more than most could imagine to the death metal scene. He had made many new friends through those years on the road; he was such a likable guy. I don't think he had a mean bone in his body. He will be truly missed". [source:blabbermouth.net]

"We know how much our fans are expecting from the new album so we worked as hard as we can to not disappoint any of them. Moreover, as some of you know, this will be the first album with a new line-up, and as you can imagine, having a new singer and a new drummer helped us to renew and improve our sound, once again. This will be like the rebirth of Hour Of Penance, in a better shape, of course!" [source:blabbermouth.net]

Sacramento, California's modern death metal titans The Kennedy Veil have inked a deal with Unique Leader Records. The band's independently released full-length The Sentence of Their Conqueror gave you an idea of what The Kennedy Veil is capable of, and the recently released single, "Disciples of Dead Aeons", allows an even better glimpse into the group's trend killing sonic evolution. But nothing will fully prepare you for what they are set to unleash with their forthcoming Unique Leader debut.

Avoiding the used, abused and predictable hat tricks that have plagued the extreme metal underground for the last several years, The Kennedy Veil has successfully managed to carve its own path in spite of it. Taking influence from pioneers like Deicide, Morbid Angel and Suffocation coupled with the more refined aggression of bands like Origin, Psycroptic and Decapitated, the end result is exactly what The Kennedy Veil intended. No throwbacks, no breakdowns, no wanking, no trends. Just their own brand of straight-forward crushing modern death metal, which they are extremely proud bring to the table of their new label home.

Commented vocalist Cody Walker: "We are extremely excited to be on such a prestigious label with a roster steeped in a history that we, as a band and as individuals, have loved and respected for many years. It was stated and agreed upon early on as a band, that if we could handpick a label suited for us, it would be Unique Leader. Brutal is as brutal does."

Added Högbom: "I first made contact with Volturyon when they mailed me their promo CD, Blood Cure. I was running a rock club in Ludvika by the name Cavum back then, and they wanted me to book a gig for them at the club. I listened to their promo and was really impressed, so I arranged a gig for them in August of 2008 in Ludvika. Ever since I have been a fan of Volturyon. After a few years with no further contact, I received a text message from [drummer] Christian Netzell, wondering if I wanted to join the band and do the East Europe /Baltic tour with them, and I said yes. It is quite an honor to have been chosen to do the vocals in Volturyon and to play with such skilled musicians." [source:blabbermouth.net]

Ron Vento of Aurora Borealis has issued the following statement: "I have decided that I want to make our entire discography available to everyone for free. There are tons of people out there can simply cannot afford to buy CD's in these tough times. Of course we will still continue to sell hard copies of the CD's that are still available to those people who collect CD's, or want the hard copies.

I made this decision after the success we had from offering the new Timeline: The Beginning and End of Everything CD as a free download. The response was overwhelming from people who appreciated the gesture.

We hope our fans enjoy this. We know some of our first few albums are very hard to find and are pretty expensive. There are still people out there that do not feel right stealing or downloading an album illegally so we want to make it easy for them without breaking the law.

The free downloads section will also include the zip file Covering the Skies. It contains every cover song we were involved in or recorded. This is not for sale anywhere, nor will it be ever. Some of the covers sound really bad because they are so old and some sound great. Either way they are fun to listen to and we have had many people asking about them. We hope you guys enjoy this. It is our way of thanking you all for 15 years of support."

The downloads can be found at this location.

Former Deicide guitarists Eric Hoffmann and Brian Hoffman recently resurrected their pre-Deicide band Amon with Jesse "Jecheal" Jolly on vocals/bass and and Mike Petrak on drums. The Florida-based quartet entered RedRoom Recorders in Tampa on December 10, 2010 with producer Mark Prator to record its new album, entitled Liar In Wait. All guitar and bass tracks have now been completed for the CD. Eric tells Blabbermouth.net, "Jesse did an incredible job laying down the bass tracks. It is refreshing to hear a bass player nailing arpeggios, playing with fingers on a seven-string bass." He adds, "Vocals start this weekend at RedRoom Recorders with Mark Prator."

When asked about the musical direction of Amon, Eric said, "The music's a little bit more technical than the Deicide stuff. It's not too intricate, so it's still catchy at the same time. You'll still have a couple of classic Deicide beginnings, and then it'll go into some killer technical, in-your-face shit."

While confirming that Amon will play several Deicide classics during the band's upcoming live shows - "We've gotta give it to the fans," says Eric - the guitarist remains adamant that any chances of a reunion with Glen and Steve remain slim.

"This is our band," Eric said. "I haven't seen Glen in six years. He says if he sees me, he's gonna shoot me and ask questions later. He hates me more than Jesus." [source:blabbermouth.net]

Anal Cunt's publicist, Kim Kelly of Catharsis PR, has confirmed via Twitter that the band's frontman, Seth Putnam, died earlier today [Saturday, June 11] of a suspected heart attack. He was 43 years old.

Commented Kelly on her personal blog: "Yes, it's true. Seth Putnam, one of the most infamous musicians that extreme metal has ever seen, the grindcore GG Allin, has passed away due to a heart attack.

Putnam was known for his brutal screaming and lyrics that either shock, offend, or invoke morbid humor. Throughout his career, Putnam was involved in many side projects, including providing backing vocals on Pantera's The Great Southern Trendkill album.

Putnam was born on May 15, 1968, in or around Boston, Massachusetts to father Edward R. Putnam and mother Barbara Ann Donohue. Both he and his parents are divorced.

In the mid-1980s, Putnam played bass in the thrash metal band Executioner.

On October 12, 2004, Putnam was hospitalized after ingesting two months' worth of Ambien sleeping pills. It was reported that he spent the previous day contemplating suicide, although exact circumstances surrounding the drug overdose are vague.

Putnam's reaction to the irony of his having been in a coma after previously writing the song "You're in a Coma" was published in the Boston Phoenix. "Actually, it turned out it was just as gay as the song I wrote nine years ago - being in a coma was just as fuckin' stupid as I wrote it was," he was quoted as saying. [source:blabbermouth.net]

In all, Katalepsy is a great example of perfectly executed American-style slamming brutal death metal and is guaranteed to deliver to any fan of unrelenting music. American death metallers Disgorge are hard at work on their fifth full-length album, And the Weak Shall Perish, for a late 2011 release via Unique Leader Records. The band, which had been on hiatus since 2006, is recording the new CD with the following line-up:

Levi Fuselier - Vocals
Ricky Myers - Drums
Erik Lindmark - Guitar
Derek Boyer - Bass

Songtitles set to appear on And the Weak Shall Perish include:

"Through Mutilation Comes Salvation"
"Of Maggots and Decay"
"Embalmed in Cryptic Fluid"
"Plagued by Faith"
"Saints of Genocide"
"Vomiting the Larvae"
"Erosion of Mortality"
"And the Weak Shall Perish"
"Tomb of Diabolical Manifestations"
"Deranged Epidemic" [re-recording]

Commented Myers: "First let me start by apologizing to Disgorge fans around the world for the long period of time we took off. The passing of [bassist] Ben [Marlin in 2008 following a battle with cancer] hit us all hard and was very difficult to accept.

"When someone passes on that is close to you that you played music with toured and worked with, they become family and I was unable to move on as quickly as others. I could not see myself playing the songs that me, Ben and Diego [Sanchez, guitar] worked so hard on to look over and not to see Ben there playing with us.

"I will never be over the passing of Ben, but I know he would want Disgorge to move on and that is what we are doing.

"Unfortunately, Diego will not be a part of the new album; he has other projects going on. I have the utmost respect for Diego, he is like a brother to me and he was a huge part of Disgorge and my life but I must continue what I have known for nineteen years and that is Disgorge.

"When Disgorge was formed in 1992, we set out to make the most brutal music we could and nothing will ever change that no matter who is playing the instruments. This album will be no different. It will be some of the sickest and fastest work ever laid down by Disgorge.

"There will be a lot of questions, so let me start by saying this: Yes, Disgorge will be touring, and yes, Disgorge will be playing old songs, songs you haven't seen Disgorge play before.

"We are all very excited about this and we can't wait for fans to be gutted once again." [source:blabbermouth.net]

After more than 15 years as the driving force in the Danish death metal band Exmortem, guitarist Martin Thim has decided that it's time to focus on new adventures and has put the group to rest.

Exmortem has been one of the leading acts in the Danish metal scene for many years and set the bar high with albums like Berzerker Legions and its latest effort, 2008's Funeral Phantoms.

Commented Thim: "Our last album, Funeral Phantoms, is also viewed as the band's absolutely best release and we are proud to leave on the top of our career.

"With Funeral Phantoms we reached what we have always aimed for, so now it's time for something new. I'm also extremely proud to look back and be able to say that we never repeated ourselves; each album has its own sound and atmosphere, no album is alike. That is very satisfying as an artist!!

"So why stop now?

"The motivation is simply not there anymore and I would never try and force something just to keep going and I've never found it especially interesting to repeat myself.

"Anyway, I've always been an entrepreneur and fiery soul, so life is simply too short to just focus on one thing; there is new territory to be discovered and I need to make new music. So this is the end of one thing and the beginning of something new, whatever that will be.

Abscess, the California-based band consisting of Chris Reifert on drums/vocals, Clint Bower on guitar/vocals, Danny Coralles on guitar, and Joe Allen on bass, has officially split up.

Commented Reifert: "The reason for the breakup is that Clint Bower has left the band for personal reasons and out of respect to him and to all who have supported us for these 16 years, we have decided to call it a day. Without Clint Bower, there can be no Abscess so we won't even try to cheat anyone with something that is not the real thing. Dawn of Inhumanity has become our final statement and we feel that it is the perfect way to close the Abscess chapter since we must do so".

Reifert adds, "The other side of this statement is to announce that Autopsy is officially active again. With the line-up of Eric Cutler and Danny Coralles on guitars, Chris Reifert on drums/vocals and Joe Trevisano on bass, Autopsy is now the full-time focus. Longtime friend and bassist Dan Lilker has performed with Autopsy at Maryland Deathfest VIII and will also do so at the upcoming Party.San and Hole In The Sky festivals in August of this year before Joe Trevisano takes over full-time on bass. A new Autopsy EP and full-length album are in the works and will be released on Peaceville Records, along with an upcoming documentary DVD. Also in the works is a new official Autopsy website, so keep your eyes open for that. Any other Autopsy sites or pages out there are fan sites and not run by the band.
