EXMORTEM
After more than 15 years as the driving force in the Danish death metal band Exmortem, guitarist Martin Thim has decided that it's time to focus on new adventures and has put the group to rest.

Exmortem has been one of the leading acts in the Danish metal scene for many years and set the bar high with albums like Berzerker Legions and its latest effort, 2008's Funeral Phantoms.

Commented Thim: "Our last album, Funeral Phantoms, is also viewed as the band's absolutely best release and we are proud to leave on the top of our career.

"With Funeral Phantoms we reached what we have always aimed for, so now it's time for something new. I'm also extremely proud to look back and be able to say that we never repeated ourselves; each album has its own sound and atmosphere, no album is alike. That is very satisfying as an artist!!

"So why stop now?

"The motivation is simply not there anymore and I would never try and force something just to keep going and I've never found it especially interesting to repeat myself.

"Anyway, I've always been an entrepreneur and fiery soul, so life is simply too short to just focus on one thing; there is new territory to be discovered and I need to make new music. So this is the end of one thing and the beginning of something new, whatever that will be.

ABSCESS
Abscess, the California-based band consisting of Chris Reifert on drums/vocals, Clint Bower on guitar/vocals, Danny Coralles on guitar, and Joe Allen on bass, has officially split up.

Commented Reifert: "The reason for the breakup is that Clint Bower has left the band for personal reasons and out of respect to him and to all who have supported us for these 16 years, we have decided to call it a day. Without Clint Bower, there can be no Abscess so we won't even try to cheat anyone with something that is not the real thing. Dawn of Inhumanity has become our final statement and we feel that it is the perfect way to close the Abscess chapter since we must do so".

Reifert adds, "The other side of this statement is to announce that Autopsy is officially active again. With the line-up of Eric Cutler and Danny Coralles on guitars, Chris Reifert on drums/vocals and Joe Trevisano on bass, Autopsy is now the full-time focus. Longtime friend and bassist Dan Lilker has performed with Autopsy at Maryland Deathfest VIII and will also do so at the upcoming Party.San and Hole In The Sky festivals in August of this year before Joe Trevisano takes over full-time on bass. A new Autopsy EP and full-length album are in the works and will be released on Peaceville Records, along with an upcoming documentary DVD. Also in the works is a new official Autopsy website, so keep your eyes open for that. Any other Autopsy sites or pages out there are fan sites and not run by the band.

"World Management and Morbid Angelwould like to let the fans know that rumors about Pedro 'Pete' Sandoval's [drums] back surgery are, in fact, true. He has recently been treated by a laser back surgery specialist in Tampa, Florida. He is currently in rehabilitation and doing well.

"Pete is part of our family and the band's history and we all wish him well and a full recovery. Unfortunately, this type of injury, subsequent surgery and rehab cannot be rushed and it will take ample time for him to hopefully be back behind his drums again and out on tour with Morbid Angel.
