The music on this three song demo from the Dutch death metal band Obeah is inspired by Six Feet Under, Obituary and Vader amongst others. The different inputs are obvious, but the five Dutchmen do add a bit of persona to the music. This however doesn't change the fact that the songs sound like so much else.

The songs are groovy and the Six Feet Under and Obituary references really obvious. It does get a bit too much now and then. Obeah is good at varying the tempo, although things never get all that fast.

The vocals are standard and it often sound like vocalist Ates Atila tries to imitate Chris Barnes. That amongst other things doesn't exactly set Obeah apart from other old school death metal bands. The problem here is that despite of good song-writing, good riffs the music doesn't excite much.

The three songs on this demo do show potential, but also that there is work to be done before the music becomes interesting.
