With extreme brutality, technical song arrangement and fluid death metal, Obscura delivers Omnivium unto you. A more than decent follow up to their 2009 release, Cosmogenesis. Ranging from crushing guitar riffs and complicated guitar leads to more mellow segments, Obscura knows how to keep their listener captivated.

As an example, the opener "Septuagint" starts out with a laid back acoustic guitar intro before it transcends into powerful dual guitars, insane blastbeats and Steffen's crushing vocals. "Ocean Gateways" carries a very traditional death metal rhythm with a few technical breakdowns in the middle of the track. "Prismal Dawn" is atmospheric with mellow guitar in the beginning and haunting vocals that quickly gives way to some impressive guitar work from Steffen and Christian. "Aevum" is one of the more interesting closers that I've heard, almost bordering on black metal with ongoing blastbeats and changing back and forth between death metal growls and black metal vocals.

With Omnivium you can tell that Obscura is quickly becoming masters of their craft and one of the most impressive that I've heard this year so far. Anyone who is interested in this style of metal should have this album in their possession immediately!
