PERVERSE DEPENDENCE - Gruesome Forms of Distorted Libido
GENRE: Brutal death metal COUNTRY: Russia FORMAT: CD LABEL: SFC Records YEAR: September 29th, 2009 RATING: 6/10 REVIEWED BY: PSL PROVIDED BY: SFC Records The Russian four-piece Perverse Dependence came together in 2008. Prior to Gruesome Forms of Distorted Libido the band has put out a three song demo. It's not much and it does to some degree show in the music as it isn't all that tight now and then. The music is inspired by brutal American death metal in the vein of Disgorge, Malignancy and Guttural Secrete. All the songs are short, but diverse. The band mixes the fast with some slam parts here and there, but many of the songs tend to be somewhat anonymous. The problem is that there are not a lot of catchy riffs or parts to set the songs apart. Another issue is that the music now and then feels a bit thin. I don't know if it's because the band haven't got that much experience or the production is to blame. I miss a thicker guitar sound in the vein of how Abominable Putridity do it. It would fit the low guttural vocals much better. Gruesome Forms of Distorted Libido is an okay debut, but there is definitely more work to be done if the Russian four-piece want to be more than an anecdote in death metal history. |
