The American trio P.L.F. plays a peculiar mix of grindcore and thrash metal. It’s somewhat atypical and I can’t think of any other band doing the same. Think of Repulsion and Unseen Terror mixed with early Sodom and it should give a good idea of the music. P.L.F. blasts a lot, but do often slow down. It’s also in the slower parts that the thrash metal vibe is most perceptible. The songs are short and straight-to-the-face. These different facets make the music sophisticated and vibrant.
To add some additional diversity there are renditions of songs by the Spanish grindcore trio Denak and the English crust punk band Doom. Some of the songs on Crushing Fury of Bastardization have already been published on split EP’s with Needful Things and Mesrine. To finish things off there are seven live tracks. Why the need to put these songs on the CD other than filler? The sound is bad and they don’t contribute with anything other than annoy. As a whole Crushing Fury of Bastardization is a middling effort that has its ups, but certainly also its downs.
