Time of Plagues is not exactly new as it came out in 2003. Prion bassist Walter Barrionuevo included the debut from his band when he sent me their most recent effort Impressions. The music is somewhat different from what the Argentines show on Impressions. But like on Impressions there are many references to Morbid Angel, however I do also hear a bit of Beneath the Remains era Sepultura in the song-writing.

The music is not very dissimilar to the vast majority of death metal and Prion also relies on many of the basics of the genre, but that doesn't make it boring. The music is diverse and the band show they can create music that is versatile and catchy. Prion mostly play fast, but overall the Argentines are good at shifting both tempo and riffing. Time of Plagues is an effort that is easy to digest. It has its ups and downs, but as a whole it's a good debut.
