Looking at the list of inspirations and finding bands like Grave, Entombed, Bolt Thrower and Autopsy in there I was sure that Rotten Bodies would be to my liking. The five Italians are strongly inspired by early 90's death metal. There are lots of bands out there doing the same thing and it's not like Profanal are any different from those, but overall the Italians do a well job in getting the style and feel of the music right. The band has some good riffs, but the quality of the songs is a bit unsteady now and then. However it's not something that leaves me with a bad impression.

Overall the music is diverse. The band plays fast, but never exaggerates it. It also helps that Profanal often go for a more mid-tempo approach. All this fits well with how death metal was played back in the day.

Now and then the band doesn't sound all that tight. It's something to work on, but a fatter production would probably make up for this. The Italians have tried to get a sound close to old bands and they succeed in doing this. I do however miss a more crisp and thick guitar sound. The band finish the demo with a rendition of Grave's "You'll Never See…" - it's not a bad version, but it doesn't really add much to the demo. Rotten Bodies is on the whole a promising demo and with a little more work I'm sure Profanal could become very interesting.
