It's definitely not every day you come across a death metal band from such an exotic place as Costa Rica but I was so fortunate to receive the newest CD Into the Flames from death metallers Pseudostratiffied Epithelium. A CD that turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

Pseudostratiffied Epithelium seems to be influenced by a wide range of bands but two bands shine through and that's Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse but it doesn't really seem too obvious 'cause Pseudostratiffied Epithelium have actually managed to give their music an identity of it's own by incorporating elements of old school thrash. The music on Into the Flames is very old school-like which in my opinion really helps give the music a lot of charm. Songs that really sticks out is "The Pupil and the title track "Into the Flames" which clearly show that Pseudostratiffied Epithelium is a band that is capable of writing great and memorable songs.

I'm not exactly sure where or if you can purchase this CD but it's definitely worth looking out for especially if you like old school influenced death metal.
